NAVSEA Command - Indian Head Weapons Simulation Department (WSD)

Situation. The Weapons Simulation Department (WSD) provides simulation development, acquisition, manufacturing and life-cycle support for Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. allies. Weapons simulation and combat system emulation are essential to maintaining certification and training of personnel by using safe and low-cost simulators and emulators in place of critical (and expensive) tactical equipment. As weapons systems change over time, WSD often requires varying information technology and engineering skills to effectively complete their research projects. Relying on contractors is the best way for the WSD to acquire the right mix of experience and up-to-date skills in Missile Weapon Simulators and Training development for the next generation of Naval Surface Warfare systems.

Solution. CentreTEK Solutions provided the WSD with engineering and technology professionals to assist in simulation of weapons propulsion systems (a.k.a. energetics), including computer simulation development. Working at various DoD facilities across the United States, CentreTEK engineers helped initiate new WSD programs, finalized testing on next generation weapons technology, and theorized on technology transfer opportunities to other programs and organizations.

Results. CentreTEK’s engineering consulting services provided the WSD with a tailored set of skilled professionals that reduce program costs for the government and enhance the WSD’s ability to fulfill their mission to protect America through superior naval weapons technology for years to come.
